Einstein's Dreams- Process

After reading the book, Einstein's dreams, we had to choose one of the dreams as the base of our project and then pick apart the symbolism and its allegories. The story I chose showed humanities struggle with change, and its ability to realize its flaws, and I wanted to show that using birds and flowers. A lot of research went into this project because I wanted to find the perfect symbolism that represented the dream in a more abstract way. 

While it is fairly easy to understand the meaning behind the dream, you must know a bit about the meanings of the different components of my piece to fully understand it.

• Humming birds are know as the "Stopper of Time". They represent innocence and naivety.
• Scarlet Tanagers represent the egocentric individual. 
• Blue Jays represent looking back with clarity and understanding.
• Honeysuckle's meaning is happiness.
• The frames in this case trap the birds and separate time periods.

The first thing I did after researching was sketching the piece out with the idea in mind. I didn't yet have the idea of the honeysuckle but after seeing how lackluster it was, I did research to find the perfect flower that would add to the story and the overall quality of the piece.

After that I made a basic game plan in order to get everything done in time. Because I knew the honeysuckle would be the most time consuming, I started with that first.

After getting the vines and flowers done, I installed them with the frames.

Then I finished the birds and installed those as well.

Interactive Wire Project

During this project, it took me an exceptionally long time to figure out what I wanted to do. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to use the organic pattern of the pomegranate seeds/fruit because the way they interacted with one another was interesting for me, but I switched between what interactive object I wanted to use many, many times. 

At first I wanted to use glasses, but creating something non distinct and new with that wasn't something that I had enough inspiration to do. The I tried using pianos, and I like the idea, but there wasn't enough time to go with that, so I ended up using a wind chime.

To make the wind chime something unique and my own, I went with light and smell as the interactive part instead of sound. I wanted it to keep the feelings of listening to wind chimes, though, so I did my best to make it calming and easy to be around for long periods of time.

Object Study

For my object study, I wrote down a list of interactive objects, but I only did a drawing study of a few of them. I wanted to highlight how the objects worked and the actual interaction between it and humans.
